Code of Conduct

THIS IS A 21+ CON. ACT LIKE IT.

1. Use Common Sense, Respect your fellow attendees.

2. No live steel.

3. No real guns! See: Weapons & Prop Policy

4. No fighting! This includes, Sparring, or Play fighting. Do not put others at risk with your drama.

5. Sleeping in hallways or convention spaces is not allowed. Security will escort you to your room or to an uber home if necessary.

6. Misuse of any property or convention space may result in badge revocation, removal from grounds, and/or a lifetime ban.

6. Report stolen or damaged property and/or personal injury to staff. We are fully able to help properly escalate the situation if needed.

7. Please help us by respecting and following directions given from staff members.

8. If it is illegal outside the hotel, it is illegal in the hotel.

9. Do not smoke in the hotel, this includes vaping. There are designated spots outside of the hotel for smoking.

10. Outside alcohol is not allowed within the convention space.(Main Events, Panel Rooms, and Gaming Room) All alcohol brought in must be purchased from the hotel bar.

11. NO GLASS IN THE POOL AREA. IF GLASS IS BROKEN NEAR THE POOL WHATSOEVER THE ENTIRE POOL WILL BE CLOSED AND DRAINED.

12. No hot plates, steam cookers, pressure cooker, air fryers, or other cooking appliances can be used in guestrooms. Microwaves are available in the Community Breakroom for guest use. Any lingering smells in guestrooms may result in an additional room cleaning charge. 

13. WHEN YOU BOOK A ROOM FOR AKEOME YOU ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE A BADGE. AKEOME CON HAS A COMPLETE TAKEOVER OF THIS PROPERTY AND NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE HOTEL WITHOUT A BADGE, EVEN IF YOUR NAME IS ON A HOTEL ROOM. 

Offensive Material
Any imagery that is considered offensive or that will make people uncomfortable is not allowed. Anyone caught spreading or displaying anything blatantly offensive may be subject to revocation of your badge and removal from the event.

This includes, but is not limited to:
-Nazi or other supremacist organizations
-Vulgar imagery(as determined by Akeome Con staff)
-Sexist imagery
-Overly violent or gory imagery
-Political imagery if used as a means to provoke

Harassment Policy

Akeome Con is dedicated to providing harassment-free event experiences for everyone regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or other protected status. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Participants violating these rules may encounter consequences or be expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of staff.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to offensive verbal comments related to: gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, apparel, and costume. Other examples of harassment included are: inappropriate physical contact, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT.

Exhibitors in designated areas, sponsor or vendor booths, or similar activities are also subject to the anti-harassment policy.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, Akeome staff may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund. If you are being harassed, witness someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of staff immediately.

We will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.

Personal Disputes

Our goal is to ensure that Akeome Con remains a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment for all attendees, while also maintaining clear boundaries regarding what falls within our authority as an event organization. Akeome Con's policies are intended to address conduct that occurs or can potentially occur within the context of the convention or its official spaces and that meets the defined thresholds for harassment, intimidation, or safety concerns. We are not able to take administrative action, including bans, based solely on personal disputes or relationship dynamics outside of the convention context.

If personal conflicts or ongoing disputes are brought into the convention space and result in behavior that violates our policies — including but not limited to harassment, intimidation, repeated unwanted interaction, or disruption of events — Akeome Con staff will take appropriate action. Consequences may include, but are not limited to, warnings, removal from specific spaces or activities, or removal from the event without refund, depending on the severity and circumstances.

All attendees are expected to comply with the Code of Conduct while participating in the event and in any officially affiliated spaces. Any behavior that disrupts the convention environment, escalates personal disputes, or creates discomfort or safety concerns for other attendees may be subject to review by staff.

Our intent is not to assign fault for personal matters, but to ensure that Akeome Con remains a respectful, safe, and enjoyable experience for all attendees. We strongly encourage all parties to manage personal conflicts independently and to avoid involving the convention in unresolved disputes.

Cosplay Policy

1. All Badges MUST be on your person as well as your ID. You will be subject to random checks to confirm there is no badge sharing and everyone is 21+.

2. We have to follow hotel requirements. Nipples and genitals must be covered in accordance to local decency laws. According to local laws breasts must be covered from the top of the areola and below. Butt cheeks must be covered. No thongs. In the rare instance we find your outfit to be an issue one of our staff members will speak with you.

3. Adhere to the Weapons Policy, if you have any questions, please contact staff.

Weapons & Prop Policy: No live steel, no hyper realistic guns. Make sure all pointed edges are safe and cannot harm anyone. Have some common sense please.

4.No sharp objects on your costume or costume props. We don’t want any person to get injured. 

5. If your costume or prop has any unsealed body paint, anything sticky, messy, or could leave a mark on a surface, you will be asked to change or put it away. (If you cannot touch a surface without leaving a mark, non-dry full body paint, etc)

6. No realistic-looking state or federal law enforcement uniforms.

Clarifications on a Costume

A costume constitutes all parts of the outfit worn, carried, or recently discarded. A costume includes all accessories, props, and items with the person or group of cosplayers. Thus, subject to convention and hotel rulings.

Picture Policy

CONSENT IS MANDATORY. COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT.

Move out of the flow of traffic when taking pictures.

Be careful moving about with big props.

When possible, find a designated photo area! 

We will have some staff photographers taking candid photos and videos during the event. They will be posted online. If you see a photo of yourself you do not like please email us and we can take it down!

Pets and Service Animal Policy

Only Service Animals may accompany their disabled handler in accordance with local and federal law. Akeome Con does not allow pets in convention spaces for the health and safety of all.

COVID Guidelines

As with all other Convention rules and guidelines, Akeome Con reserves the right to ask you to leave the convention and remove your badge if you cannot follow our updated COVID Policy, should changes occur. This policy is subject to change per any City, County, or State actions, requirements, and/or mandates (all of which Akeome Con intends to adapt and adhere to).

1. Masks will be encouraged but not required in the convention spaces.

2. At this time, the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and the State of Minnesota do  not maintain or require face coverings or masking.

3. Vaccination or negative test prior to the event is also strongly encouraged but will not be required for badge pick-up at Registration.

4. Akeome Con will be following CDC Guidelines.

5. IF YOU ARE SICK, PLEASE STAY HOME. Contact info@akeomecon.com and we can move your badge to next year if you can not transfer it to someone else in time.
